Key Challenges
The adjacent Victrex production building remained fully operational for the duration of the project. We ensured offered full segregation of construction activities from facility users, visitors and the public by use of hoardings, netting and security staffed entrance/exit points.
Material deliveries were scheduled to avoid peak periods in agreement with Victrex. We utilized specific techniques for reducing noise, eg, positioning of equipment to reduce noise and vibration levels, use of mobile noise screens, assessment of working hours and planning of the works to reduce impacts.
Where possible we used pre-fabrication off-site to reduce noise levels and material storage spaces.
The Site Manager developed a dust control strategy whereby the site monitored dust levels and anticipated any future issues with measures implemented in response to any rise in level.
Added Value
This included a water proof concrete product for the service trenches in response to the scheme’s location within an area with a high water table.
We worked closely with the client when the design was significantly changed at their request; and we offered an accelerated programme to accommodate the delivery of some high specification equipment bespoke to the needs of the facility.
