Eric Wright Construction visited St John’s CE Primary School in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, to give them a talk about health and safety as we feel that it is important to involve the children in the project that is taking place at their school. They will be asked to design safety notices to be displayed within the school and they will be taken on a tour of the site at different stages as the work progresses.
After a lengthy planning process, EWC were awarded the project of building the new school and the works commenced on 12 November 2018.
The new building is a two storey construction, with a single storey school hall for assemblies, sports and to be used as a dining room. The construction is of brick and has 4 classrooms located on the ground floor and 4 classrooms on the first floor, together with an IT teaching room, meeting room and offices.
The first task was for EWC to construct a Badger protection trench, which was excavated along the length of the site, before a chain linked fence was installed within the trench and then backfilled. This important part of the project was witnessed by Ecological Consultants from Envirotech, and Stockport Council (Planning and Environmental departments).
The Head teacher, Mr Patrick Rayner, is delighted that the project has commenced and the staff, students and parents are keen to see the project from start to finish.
