Jim Carter Receives Award for Outstanding Contribution to RICS

After over 20 years of involvement with the RICS Jim Carter has been awarded a medal to recognise what the RICS decided was an outstanding contribution. The medal was presented at a dinner held on 29 June in London at the start of a meeting of the Governing Council of the RICS by last year’s president, Michael Newey.

Jim has served on various committees, some of which he has chaired. His involvement culminated with being selected as the first Chairman of the Management Board, created just over 6 years ago in which he served until July 2014.

During the tenure of the last president Michael Newey, a group which Jim was not a part of decided that the RICS should be able to make an award to people who have made an outstanding contribution to the RICS itself or to related institutions with whom it works around the world. A president would be allowed to make one such award during the year although it would not be obligatory to make such an award.

It is a fantastic achievement for Jim that he was selected as the first person to be awarded this medal, and a reflection of the hard work and dedication he has committed to the RICS over many years.
