Grand Opening for New Landmark!

QEStudio School in Kirkby Lonsdale had its official Launch Open Day on Saturday 5th October to celebrate the opening of the fabulous new £4.5 million building that’s fast becoming a new landmark on the A65.

The milestone event started with a ‘Celebration Breakfast’ for professional partners, local employers and training organisations who are helping QEStudio ‘do school differently’ by working directly with students to share their technical expertise.

They were then open to the public from 11.30 -2.30pm, giving the local community the chance to look around the amazing new facilities that allow students to follow a very different kind of curriculum.

Learning at QEStudio is focused on specialist ‘Pathways’ such as engineering, countryside skills, health, sport and performing arts, with a strong focus on practical projects and employability skills helped by engagement with local organisations and businesses.

Professional partners included Anord Mardix, A Lamb Associates, Wildsmith Hotels, The Princes Trust, Morecambe Bay NHS and The English Lakes Hotel Group.

The huge building project was masterminded by Eric Wright Construction as the new home for QEStudio, which was launched in September 2017 alongside QES as part of the Lunesdale Learning Trust.

Looking ahead to the future of the school, QEStudio Principal Alison Wilkinson, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our new building. It’s lovely to see our students enjoying and appreciating these bespoke spaces created with technical learning at the forefront of our minds.  We are looking forward to the future and strengthening engagement with professional partners”.

Commenting on the completion John Hartnett, operations director at Eric Wright Construction said: “It’s great to see this new facility completed and being used by so many pupils. We have been working collaboratively with the school to deliver a state-of-the-art learning environment, which not only enhances the student learning experience, but also meets the demand for school places across the region.”
