Eric Wright Group seals deal with Kenny Waste Management Social Enterprise Ltd for sustainable waste management services

Preston-based property and construction company Eric Wright Group has appointed Kenny Waste Management Social Enterprise (KWMSE) to deliver waste management services across the Group in an initial two-year contract worth over £1m.

KWMSE was selected as the preferred framework partner following a formal tender process and will service the Group’s construction, civil engineering, homebuilding, water and health & care businesses across the UK, with a focus on the North West.

They will be advising on diverting waste from landfill and recycling across Eric Wright’s construction sites, delivering educational programmes on waste reduction and implementing management plans to ensure waste is segregated and sorted correctly. Kenny Waste Management’s portal reporting system will be providing data driven analysis to monitor waste production and disposal that is transparent, accurate, and uniform across the whole of the UK.

Through the Eric Wright Learning Foundation, KWMSE will also be working with students to educate them on construction site waste management.

Eric Wright Group’s Managing Director, Jeremy Hartley, commented: “Delivering sustainable social value in the communities where we work is central to our principles and Kenny Waste Management’s net zero strategy and social enterprise model aligns closely with our ethos and values. We are conscious that the money we spend through procurement has the power to drive additional benefits and KWMSE will be putting in place a series of education initiatives to deliver improvements across our business and to help educate our employees.

“Eric Wright Group has set a target of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and our environmental management team is working closely with all of our suppliers to ensure we achieve this goal.

“Reducing the impact of the built environment, prioritising sustainability and delivering tangible and measurable social value is fundamental in our selection of supply chain partners. Sustainability and delivering social value formed 20% of our overall scoring criteria for the contract and KWMSE met and exceeded all of our expectations with their net zero strategy. This is a turning point for the business and all of our procurement now recognises the increasingly important part our supply chain partners can play in supporting our wider social value strategies.”

Karen Hampton, Sales Director at Kenny Waste Management, added: “We are delighted at the opportunity this new agreement represents. Eric Wright Group have been our partner for many years, and we value their positive culture and professionalism. Their considerate attitude to both the environment and local community aligns with our own responsible business model and social value strategy. We look forward to developing our relationship further and working more closely under this fantastic agreement.”
