Client's Specification

The project involves extension to the existing store to create a new 48 seater café, customer WC and main entrance area.

The design is complementary to the rural location with roof slating, along with timber and stone work to the building facades.

Interior store fit out has been completed to the distinctive Booths specification, whilst external works complete the scheme.

Key Challenges

Key challenges on this scheme involved working within a live supermarket environment and ensuring the store remained unaffected and fully operational at all time during the works.

Maintaining full weather tightness of existing store, managing our deliveries and ensuring pedestrian safety were further key challenges which we successfully overcome through careful planning and logistics.

Added Value

Having completed many Booths store we have extensive experience of the client’s key needs and long-standing relationships with both Booths key subcontractors and design team members.

As part of our commitment to enable the project to benefit the local community during construction, the site management team ran a ‘neighbours wood fuel scheme’ which utilised site waste.

People living close to the site were able to place an order for wood fuel to use at home for garden heaters and wood burning stoves.

Client Feedback

“This is a really exciting time for the Carnforth store and we are delighted to be opening a café. We pride ourselves on delivering a first class shopping experience to customers, and hope that the opportunity to combine the grocery shop with a light lunch, afternoon tea, or simply a coffee and a catch up with friends, will make that experience all the more enjoyable.”
