Barbara Castle Way Health Centre, Blackburn

Eric Wright Construction worked with East Lancashire & Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust as the main contractor for the design and construction of a new health care centre, on six levels, with associated staff facilities, office accommodation, access roads, car parking and landscaping conveniently located at the junctions of Barbara Castle Way, Alma Street and Simmons Street in Blackburn.

The project consists of four GP practices, a treatment room, podiatry, retinal screening, diabetes, speech and language therapy, orthoptists, dental, artificial eye clinic and audiology.

There is also a dedicated Young Persons’ Resource Centre, which provides a range of services through organisations including Brook, Connexions, LifeLine and Job Centre Plus.

Works went to programme completing in September 2011.
