Community investment

Utilisation and growth of local skills and resources is a fundamental pillar of our Corporate Social Responsibility policy at The Eric Wright Group. We contribute to the health and viability of the communities in which we work through job creation, training, apprenticeship opportunities, mentoring and the use of local suppliers and labour.

The North West, disadvantaged young people and the construction industry are our three focus areas.  Charitable ownership of the Group has ensured a thriving organisational culture of lasting commitment to social issues that goes beyond legal requirements in its development of future talent.  We consistently provide a broad legacy of enhanced skills, motivation and social mobility in the areas we serve.

Blackpool Build Up

This LEGI funded initiative supported by Blackpool Fylde and Wyre College provides training and employment opportunities for the long-term unemployed.  The Eric Wright Group has worked with Blackpool Build Up to place dozens of people in employment.

Progress Employment

Working with young people and adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour, Eric Wright Facilities Management has taken on students with Special Educational Needs to shadow staff in jobs that include grounds and garden maintenance and catering.

As a private sector partner in many public partnerships, the Eric Wright Group has developed a standard set of KPIs across its business activities. A specific KPI measurement is set for work, training and apprenticeships; including a proportion of contract spend to be procured locally.

Skills Solutions

We have set up a partnership between the North West’s largest apprenticeships provider, Skills Solutions, and Eric Wright Construction. Skills Solutions is an Apprenticeship Training Provider, which helps employers source, arrange and host apprentices. As the host partner, Eric Wright Construction engages with the subcontractors on our projects and encourages them to commit to periods of employment for apprentices to give them the experience they need.

Skills Solutions is the largest work based learning provider in Greater Manchester and the largest provider of Apprenticeships in the North West. They currently work with over 1,200 employers directly generating Apprenticeship vacancies and currently look after over 2,500 learners on a variety of Apprenticeship programmes.
