Hulme Takes the Helm at Eric Wright Civil Engineering

Eric Wright Civil Engineering has promoted Gavin Hulme to the position of operations director.

Following a 16-year career at the Preston-headquartered firm, holding a number of roles including site manager, project manager and most recently contracts manager, Gavin will work alongside managing director, Diane Bourne to lead the £42m turnover business.

With responsibility to oversee EWCE’s frameworks and contracts with local authorities and regional and national operators, Gavin will look after the company’s infrastructure, highways, utilities, rail and hydro-electric schemes.

Predominantly operating across the North of England, EWCE has recorded significant growth in Cumbria, following a number of projects to repair flood-damaged structures and also safeguard others from the effects of future flooding.

Speaking of his appointment, Gavin said: “Whilst historically humble, Eric Wright is a very successful business with ambitions to grow.

“And with the Government committing to spend £23bn via a ‘National Productivity Investment Fund’ between 2017 and 2022, there are plenty of opportunities on the horizon that we’ll look to capitalise on.”

Diane Bourne, managing director at Eric Wright Civil Engineering, added: “Gavin has been a dedicated employee for almost two decades and has literally learnt the business from the bottom up.

“A stickler for detail and with an eye for quality, he will be a valuable addition to the directorial team.”
