Broughton House Veteran Care Village, Salford
Overview
Procured through a two-stage tender process Broughton House Veteran Care Village will provide the complete holistic services required by veterans and their families on one dedicated site in Greater Manchester, supporting every stage of life.
The works are being undertaken in two phases and comprise the demolition of the existing building and construction of a new 64-bedroom care home with communal facilities and 34 independent and assisted living apartments.
The facility will offer a special dementia wing, a military support hub featuring an advice centre, gym, treatment rooms, café, hair salon and meeting rooms.
Externally there will be a memorial park with a cenotaph, remembrance walls and landscaped gardens featuring an all-weather bowling green and a bandstand.
Key Challenges
The scheme is being constructed in a live retirement village and has been phased to allow residents to be moved into the new facility before demolition of the existing.
Access and egress from site is also challenging due to the projects location in the middle of a residential Jewish community.
Added Value
EWC were selected as the single contractor during RIBA Stage 3 and we developed the costs in coordination with the design, offering assistance and input to ensure an affordable scheme.
