We are delighted James was awarded Winner in the Overcoming Adversity Category at the awards ceremony hosted by Dominic Littlewood of TV series Cowboy Builders on the 26th May at Burnley Mechanics Theatre
The Construction Development Alliance developed these awards to support the growth of young people and the future of the property and construction industry in the North West.
James is employed as a trainee health and safety advisor for Eric Wright Construction. After leaving school he was successful in gaining a placement as a joinery apprentice but in 2013 James was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and was told that he required a kidney transplant and as a consequence could not continue in a manual job.
James has dealt with his illness in a positive way and has continued to seek new opportunities. James is a keen construction ambassador who attends careers events with both the CITB and within the local community. James is also working with the Eric Wright Learning Foundation which provides training for youths aged 14-16 wanting to progress into an apprenticeship in construction.
