Latest News from the Eric Wright Learning Foundation

The Eric Wright Learning Foundation share their expertise with local school....

The Learning Foundation recently responded to a request from SS Peter and Pauls Primary School in Mawdesley to do some construction activity with their pupils as part of their Shine Week.

Tutors Brian Hall and Nigel Tomlinson went over loaded with some ready mixed mortar and some special lightweight bricks to carry out some brickwork tuition with all the pupils from year one through to year 6.

All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the activities and who knows some of these may become construction apprentices in a few years time!

BTEC Results are positive for another year at the foundation

The BTEC results for the end of the 2010-11 year were once again encouraging with an overall success rate of 98%.

The learning foundation was especially pleased to learn that Matthew Nightingale has been given an apprenticeship in Joinery with Eric Wright Construction.  Matthew was successful in gaining an overall Distinction on the BTEC First Diploma in Construction whilst at the Learning Foundation for which he was presented with the LEBP shield for the Young Apprentice of the Year.

The new intake year 2011-12 looks like being yet another busy year for the Learning Foundation with just over one hundred new learners enrolling. This is especially encouraging in what are uncertain times financially for most of the schools. It is good to know that the schools recognise the construction programme as worthwhile and beneficial for their learners.
