Eric Wright on Track with New Rail Appointment

Eric Wright Civil Engineering has appointed a new project manager for its rail division.

Steve Carter, 40, from Wigan, joins the rapidly expanding division with more than 20 years’ experience at national organisations including Network Rail, Interactive Trackwork Services and AMCO Rail.

As well as bringing knowledge and expertise to the team, Steve is also well equipped with industry-specific qualifications including a National Certificate in Civil Engineering and safety critical qualifications such as Controller of Site Safety (COSS) and Safe Systems of Work Planning (SSOWP).

The rail division has forged long-term partnerships with Network Rail and leading tier one rail contractors. As project manager, Steve will oversee all rail projects from tender to delivery and be responsible for training and mentoring a team of staff whilst raising awareness of on-track safety risks.

Speaking of his appointment, Steve said: “The Eric Wright Group is a well-recognised and successful organisation and I am looking forward to using my years of experience to strengthen the group’s skills across civil engineering disciplines and build a leading, safety- focused rail division.

“The main part of my role will involve training and mentoring staff, helping them to overcome challenges and understand the safety measures involved on a fully operational railway and I am confident that we will maintain our excellent track record.

“In addition to Network Rail’s recently-announced five-year plan to invest £38bn in rail infrastructure, high profile projects such as Crossrail and HS2 provide a wealth of opportunity for businesses like ours, so I am delighted to be joining Eric Wright at this time.”

Diane Bourne, managing director of Eric Wright Civil Engineering, added: “Steve has vast experience in delivering a wide range of rail projects and this, combined with his sound knowledge of the industry, means we are certain that he will drive the division forward and uphold our high levels of service.”
