Eric Wright Moves to Grow Residential Arm

Applethwaite, the residential division of the Eric Wright Group, is set to expand following the appointment of several members of staff, including a director.

Colin Hetherington, a chartered surveyor, whose housing career spans 19 years including senior management positions at firms including Taylor Woodrow, McInerney Homes and Antler Homes, has taken over from former director, Mike Henry, who recently retired.

Three sales advisors and a residential administrator have also been appointed to the company, which is currently marketing homes in Bispham, Wesham, Forton and Whalley.

Established in 2004, Applethwaite was formed to provide high quality homes in small developments with individual character. In a bid to deliver a point of difference to volume house builders, the firm’s focus is comfortable family homes that reflect traditional style, but satisfy the needs of modern living.

Having operated from its base in Cumbria, for 11 years, the business has been brought into the Eric Wright fold and will be managed from the group’s headquarters at Bamber Bridge, Preston.

Speaking of his appointment, Colin said: “Housing is a subject that is always high on the news agenda, as well as being a key focus for the new government. I have been working as a consultant for Applethwaite, creating a new range of house types and securing development sites. Applethwaite has grown from strength to strength over the last 12 months and I will be working hard to facilitate further expansion of the business. Predominantly known for its construction arm, the company is extremely diverse and unique in its offering, providing expertise across civil engineering, facilities management and property development. I am delighted to be asked to join the Eric Wright Group.”
