Health and Safety
We take our commitment to health and safety very seriously, and have a dedicated Group health and safety team of five qualified health and safety professionals.
We actively encourage our staff to identify potential health and safety initiatives which promotes risk awareness and continues to develop our positive health and safety culture. The health and safety team maintain their Continual Professional Development (CPD) through structured training programmes, attending various health and safety group meetings and self-study.
The health and safety strategy is built on the philosophy of continual improvement, so we never stand still. The business has a risk assessment that prioritises our improvement plans based on our leading and lagging indicators, new or changed legislation and HSE priorities.
The health and well-being of our staff is important to the success of our business, we support this through; occupational health checks on site, gym facilities at our head office for use by all staff; subsidised BUPA membership; children's nursery on site; health awareness campaigns, and a Company doctor on site weekly for staff consultations.
We are founder members of the Lancashire Working Well Together (WWT) Group, which aims to provide help ‘from the industry for the industry'. Representatives from local contractors who make up the group develop and deliver free advice and safety training for the local industry. We contributed to a Safety & Health Awareness Day (SHAD) in November 2012 which invited small contractors to attend free of charge. Topics covered were asbestos, working a low height, respiratory risks and temporary works. The event saw 180 delegates attending, providing positive feedback on the usefulness and organisation of the event.
We are fully accredited to ISO 18001:2008.
