East Lancashire NHS LIFT, Bacup

Private Finance Initiatives (PFIs) allow private sector companies to provide, maintain and operate public sector facilities such as schools and hospitals, freeing up these organisations to focus on their core functions.

The Eric Wright Group is at the forefront of PFIs for capital building. Completed projects include a 1,350 pupil High School in Fleetwood for Lancashire County Council, three purpose built Elderly Care Hospital Care Units for the Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde Community Health Services NHS Trust and five primary schools for Cheshire County Council. 

We’re also the selected partner for both East Lancashire and Wigan NHS LIFT programmes and currently operate seven health centres in the region, with three more to be opened by late 2006.
These vary in size from 1,000m² at Briercliffe to 5,500m² in Nelson to the massive 14,000m² St Peters Centre in Burnley, which will also feature a 5,000m² leisure centre on its lower four floors.

The Eric Wright Group is the sole equity partner in each of these projects and we plan to launch an additional PFI scheme each year. The projects also demonstrate our capabilities as ‘one-stop-shop’ – from conception by Maple Grove Developments to construction by Eric Wright Construction and operation and maintenance by Eric Wright Facilities Management.
