Eric Wright Construction Ltd (the company) recognises the duties placed upon it, to preserve the Health, Safety and Welfare of its employees, other persons, sectors of the public and the public in general affected by its work. This policy is the direct concern of the Directors and Senior Management, who are responsible for its overall implementation. The company's contracts, project and site management shall apply this policy throughout the company's operations. As far as is reasonably practicable this will be achieved by:

  • Monitoring legislative developments and ensuring all operations are carried out in accordance with all applicable statutory requirements, Codes of Practice and Standards.
  • Consultation on Health and Safety issues, with all the company's employees including sub-contractors. The results of the feedback from the consultation process shall be assessed and acted upon where considered necessary.
  • Setting suitable targets and objectives with the aim of attaining continual improvement in health and safety in all the Company's operations.
  • Adopting auditing and monitoring regimes to ensure compliance is achieved.
  • The provision of information, instruction, training and education to ensure staff and operatives have an adequate understanding of our Policy, relevant legislation and the health, safety and welfare aspects of the Company's activities. This includes skills and competency.
  • On each site the supervisor is required to ensure the company's health and safety procedures are implemented by all employees including sub-contractors.
  • The establishment and maintenance of a culture where employees are aware of their individual duties to take care of themselves and others that may be affected by their work, and to cooperate with the company to fulfill its duties under legislation.
  • Ensuring that proactive assessment of operations identifies those hazards and risks associated with them and control measures implemented that negate the hazard or reduce residual risks to an acceptable level, such that incidents, accidents and ill-health are prevented.
  • The provision and maintenance of places of work, plant and equipment that are safe and without risk to health.
  • Maintaining arrangements to ensure that, the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances are safe and without risk to health.
  • Ensuring that there is a suitable and sufficient First Aid at Work cover for individual projects.

This policy will be made public on request. It will be implemented through the actions of all employees of the Company in general and in accordance with the Company's Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Guidance Notes.

The policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains suitable and appropriate for the Company's activities and will be revised and reissued to all employees, as required. The review period will not exceed 12 months.
