Grizedale Dock Impounding Reservoir

Replacement of a badly corroded outlet valve from the reservoir to prevent the possibility of future failure and consequential flooding. All in the interest of safety (ITIOS).

The work involved the replacement of an old outlet valve with a new hydraulically operated valve. Installation of the new valve had to be done underwater without draining the reservoir. The valve was installed by divers working at a dpet of 22m along a 50m tunnel. Other works included filling the outlet tunnel with benefil foam and installing protection fencing.
