The 200 capacity church replaces the Church of the Resurrection in Beswick and St Jerome's Church in Ardwick with a £1.1m, 550m2 (6,000ft2) brick building with glass frontage
The facility also also contains community facilities including a café and events space, with the church at the heart of the building.
A ground breaking ceremony took place which included the ancient tradition of 'cairn' building using pebbles. Those who attended were encouraged to place a pebble and build a conical pile, each pebble representing a hope or prayer for the community in east Manchester. The pebbles were then buried in the foundations of the new church.
