Cobbetts House, Manchester |
58 Mosley Street is a new development on the site of the old Eagle Star House building in the heart of Manchester City Centre. A striking eight storey modern design, it will provide seven floors of office space for Cobbetts with retail opportunities at ground floor level.
The development comprised the demolition of an existing 7-storey building and the construction of a new 8 storey office block with single storey basement. The existing basement was part retained with contiguous piled walling to form the remainder. As well as retail, the development will comprise circa 102,000 sqft of quality office accommodation. At ground floor, circa 10,000 sqft of retail is to be provided, fronting Mosley Street, with a further unit of approximately 1,000 sqft fronting Booth Street. These modern units provide state of the art space, and will have distinctive and expansive glazed retail façades, which will provide excellent display and signage opportunities.
The building provides a harmonious synthesis of contemporary and traditional to provide a bridge from past/present to future. Contemporary design is mixed with traditional materials such as pre cast concrete and glass to provide a building that will differentiate Cobbetts from its major competitors.
The main structure of the building is formed in structural steel with holo-rib floors. The external walls are formed from stone face concrete panels and unitized glazed panels with integral brise soleil. |
